Dr. Mary Enig MS (Nutritional Sciences), Ph.D. did original research that showed a positive link between vegetable oil, corn and soy in particular as  (POLYUNSATURATED OIL) and cancer and a negative correlation for animal fat. -  70% of the oils added to processed foods and for deep frying is soy, because it is cheap oil. Actually lard is the best fat to use for most purposes.
