Why are so many people testing positive for COVID-19, getting sick, and some dying from a viral infection?

We have an inherent, natural, perfect system in our bodies to protect against contracting a virus and the possible, ensuing inflammatory damage to the lungs. This system is known as the immune system. It’s a perfect system to protect us from the damage of any viral infection.

Why and how then is it failing to protect us?

Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D., recently told the attendees at a virtual event that 88% of Americans are at a high risk for COVID-19 because of poor metabolic health due to a poor diet.

The diet for most Americans is focused on large quantities of refined carbohydrates, over 250 pounds of sugar annually per individual, plus 67 pounds of high fructose corn syrup that constitutes a very poor diet. In order for us to have a healthy, normal immune system that will protect us against viral infection, it requires a number of natural vitamins and minerals which are not found in refined carbohydrates and sugar diet. These natural nutrients like vitamin A, C,  E,  D-3, and the minerals, zinc and selenium, are only found in natural, whole foods and supplements with the exception of vitamin D-3, which is produced by sunlight radiating on the surface of the skin. In previous scientific studies, these nutrients prevented the virus from being a killer. COVID-19 may cause a certain degree of sickness but, with a healthy immune system able to fight the virus, the risk of death is significantly reduced. Because of underlying health issues (heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity) and increased age, over time the immune system is compromised and is not equipped to fight the overload of infection and inflammation.

According to the CDC, 1.2 billion people are deficient in one or more of the nutrients required for an optimal functioning immune system. The American diet is the worst diet of all industrialized nations in the world.  And, all the deficiencies and signs of a bad diet are then covered up with prescription drugs and vaccines.

When people appear to be healthy but are eating a poor diet, they are just surviving, NOT really experiencing optimal health. When someone is attacked by the virus, it’s an overload and too much for a poor functioning immune system to continue protecting the health of the individual. The viral attack is way beyond the ability of the immune system to respond due to a poor diet.

Dr. Hyman further explained that it’s not the virus itself that kills people. It’s the body‘s inflammatory response on the one hand and the inefficient immunity on the other hand.

Due to the Standard American Diet (SAD), the immune system is not healthy enough to prevent the viral infection. This causes the immune system to overreact causing an inflammatory storm that damages the lungs.

88% of Americans are eating an inflammatory diet based on the foods of carbohydrates, sugar, and vegetable and seed oils. 98% of all diseases today are caused by inflammatory processes. America is a nation of inflammation. COVID-19 is just the last straw that causes severe damage, and if not extinguished, possible death.

If you change your diet from an inflammatory diet to an anti-inflammatory diet, you can, in a matter of weeks, change the health of your body from a poor state to a healthier state. I highly recommend adopting the ketogenic diet. Or, at least drastically reduce your carbohydrates and avoid all sugar that would create a healthier state for your body to function.

Our bodies have survived in a healthy state for millions of years based on food, without drugs and without vaccines. Our bodies require nutrition that is supplied by quality, grass fed animal proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fresh vegetables that not only supply many of the nutrients but, 25,000 phytochemicals that we require for a healthy immune system and for the entire function of the body. These nutrients and phytochemicals talk to your cells and switch on genes for good health or poor health.

Real, whole food is the fuel that nourishes your body and prevents disease.

Stop eating prepared and prepackaged foods. They are really not foods at all, but are manufactured in a food laboratory. They are not natural and are highly processed with additional carbohydrates and sugar. Start eating unprocessed and unrefined, real whole foods.

Food is your best medicine!! And truly your only medicine.
