If you were born after 1990, you have twice the risk of colon cancer and four times the risk of rectal cancer than someone born before 1990.
Colon cancer in young people is often not found until advanced.
–Young people may be reluctant to talk to a doctor about rectal bleeding and cramping, two important symptoms of colon cancer.
Rise in colon cancer parallels rise in obesity
–Unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle drive weight gain AND increase colon cancer risk
New Research –Andrographis Against Colon Cancer
Researchers treated colon cancer cells, including chemotherapy resistant colon cancer cells, with the herb Andrographis EP-80, standardized to contain 20% Andrographolides
Part 1: cell study –colon cancer cells were exposed to Andrographis, a chemotherapy drug used to treat colon cancer (5FU or Fluorouracil), or the combination
–Result: the combination reduced cancer cells more effectively than either treatment alone –up to a 90% reduction in cancer cells, Even In Cells That Were Resistant To 5FU Treatment
Part 2: colon cancer cell tumors (animal model) were treated with each intervention (Andrographis or 5FU) singly or in combination
–Results: the combination reduced tumor size almost 80% versus a 30% reduction for the drug treatment alone
I would recommend, based on this current research, about 400 mg standardized at 20% of the Andrographolides twice daily.
