Cholesterol is not the problem. Inflammation and the amino acid homocysteine are. To prevent damage to the heart by homocysteine, the body requires B6, B12 and folate. These three B vitamins convert homocysteine into a healthy amino acid methionine. Excessive homocysteine is more harmful to the heart than cholesterol.
