The antioxidants in pomegranate provide numerous health benefits for the circulatory system. As we age, our arteries and other blood vessels become less efficient at transporting blood effectively. This can be due to a buildup in the arteries, hardening of the arteries, and other conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. In studies, pomegranate protected cholesterol from becoming oxidized and accumulating in the arteries —a problem which, when left untreated, can damage artery walls.
