A “super food” ingredient that can do almost anything!
When we turn on the faucet and no water comes out, we can generally assume the pipes are clogged. When the heart is starving for oxygen, we can also assume the pipes (arteries) are clogged. Well, kind of a silly analogy, but when the arteries are blocked, there is very poor blood flow carrying oxygen to the heart. In a recent study, pomegranate, in the equivalent of 8-16 ounces of juice, or a combination of powdered pomegranate extract and pomegranate oil, were able to reduce the epithelium by 30%. This allows more blood flow to the heart. The 30% reduction in the participants in the study was over a course of one year, while the control group without the pomegranate extract had a 9% increase in the epithelium meaning a further reduction of blood flow. For some people, a year may seem like a long time to use a supplement to increase better blood flow, but keep in mind that the plaque and restriction of blood flow occurred over a period of decades.
