We need a high level of polyphenols every day.  It almost sounds like something you might fill your car gas tank with. But, let me assure you that when you learn about these very special compounds that are found in plant-based foods like coffee, cocoa, most fruits and vegetables, wine, nuts, seeds and berries, and in my opinion, the most powerful source, extra virgin olive oil,  you will most likely plan to include them in your diet with every meal. They are very powerful antioxidants that can neutralize harmful, damaging, free radicals, the culprits that are the primary cause of 98% of all disease. Studies have proven that polyphenols help fight inflammation and may lower your risk of several common diseases including heart disease, many types of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and neurodegenerative diseases, type II diabetes and joint dysfunction (arthritis).

The Standard American Diet (SAD), yes truly very sad, that no one including the AMA, CDC, WHO, or your primary doctor is willing to inform us that what we eat is health promoting or health destructive.  Food truly is our medicine. We are not sick because we lack a new potent drug.  We are sick because we lack many of the natural compounds that nature supplies in a healthy diet. To make sure you are getting plenty of polyphenols for your overall health, we should focus on eating more plant-based foods.

Or perhaps, select a dietary supplement that will include several of the top spices and foods that are exceptionally high in polyphenols, such as curcumin, grape seed extract, apple extract, propolis, and green tea extract that can offer you 250 mg of polyphenols per capsule. This is a formula that I highly recommend and personally use, plus several tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil daily. World researchers have concluded that to help prevent and treat all these diseases, we should be getting 1,000 mg of polyphenols daily through diet and/or supplements.
