Most doctors base their diagnostic measures for thyroid function on blood chemistry. Dr. Broda Barnes, was the world authority on thyroid function. Sadly he is deceased, but before his death, he informed physicians that blood chemistry was not accurate in determining the activity of the thyroid. Dr. Barnes developed a body temperature test which would indicate hypothyroidism. Once a physician comes to the realization that his or her patient has an underactive thyroid, the prescription given is a synthetic thyroid hormone. The thyroid can’t function in the absence of iodine. Far too many people are suffering from an underactive thyroid, experiencing symptoms that are never diagnosed as related to the thyroid. Many thyroid functions return to normal with the recommendation of 12.5 mg of iodine daily. The results of iodine therapy can be truly amazing. Some may say the results are miraculous.
