SAD refers to the sad American diet, which is referring to the Standard American Diet. Because of the past myth of fat being unhealthy and the cause of heart disease, strokes, and atherosclerosis, medical authorities and physicians highly advise avoiding fats. Since the 1950’s, everything in America became low fat or no fat in our food and our diet. The ultimate alternative was an increase in sugar and carbohydrates, and now the American Diet is 70 to 90 percent sugar and carbohydrates. The excessive use of sugar, carbohydrates, and starch is in excess of the energy expenditure, and therefore, stored as fat in the body. Avoiding fats has caused over 40% of Americans to be obese, another 30% of American are overweight and 18% of children experiencing obesity.
The American Diet is causing more harm than good ultimately resulting in more disease, which is then treated with drugs to alleviate the symptoms of the bad diet. Drugs do not work. Drugs are not the answer. Doctors do not teach health and nutrition. You and I are responsible for our health and the answer is to change our lifestyle choices. Choose a diet containing high quality animal proteins, fish, fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats including butter, cream, lard, eggs, olive oil, macadamia oil, avocado oil, and nuts such as walnuts, almonds, and macadamia. You can’t seek health or search for relief unless you are willing to change your diet and lifestyle. This also means absolutely no smoking, excessive alcohol, and burning the candle at both ends. I also believe seven to nine hours of sleep is a requirement. I know this takes work and discipline, but it is the only way to prevent and treat diseases. America is only 5% of the world’s population and yet we consume 60% of all the drugs manufactured worldwide, 80% of the pain killing drugs manufactured worldwide are consumed in America, 85% of drugs manufactured to treat children are consumed in America, and with all the drugs and medical care that America has to offer, we are the sickest country in the world. We rank 37th out of 37 industrialized countries monitored by the world health organization.
Ninety-eight percent of all disease is caused by our lifestyle choices, only 2% of our diseases are genetically inherited.
You can’t blame Grandma and Grandpa. We can only blame ourselves for our poor health.
