Does sugar cause many of our current diseases?

While sugar may not directly cause our modern day diseases, it certainly is a major risk factor for weight gain and obesity, which then in turn may be responsible for many of our diseases. It has been estimated that 30 million adults and several million children have fatty liver disease. For many years, fatty liver disease and cirrhosis of the liver were caused by excessive consumption of alcohol.

We see the same disease in millions of people who do not drink alcohol excessively but is caused by the common acceptance of the consumption of huge quantities of sugar. This form of liver disease is now called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which can be found in 30 million adults and millions of children.  The primary cause is sugar in all its forms.

Our normal liver weighs 4-5 pounds, but in many people it can weigh as much as 20 pounds due to the fat infiltration in the liver from the excessive consumption of sugar, which turns to fat in the body causing obesity and excessive abdominal fat otherwise known as belly fat, which interferes with many of our metabolic functions, therefore causing many of our current diseases that are not true diseases but metabolic malfunctions displaying symptoms that are treated by drugs rather than correcting the diet and lifestyle choices, and, of course, the avoidance of sugar and refined carbohydrates.

Billions of dollars are made from the prescription drugs for so called diseases that are only the result of our over consumption of carbohydrates and sugar.

To regain your health and to avoid prescription drugs, talk to your doctor about changing your diet to reduce refined carbohydrates and avoid all forms of sugar.

Let food be your medicine and your medicine your food.

Drugs are critical for life saving situations but not to treat conditions that are caused by poor lifestyle choices and a poorly conceived diet.

The liver is responsible for over 600 metabolic functions.  Healthy liver cells, when replaced by fat, cannot manage the 600 functions and our body suffers severely.  Therefore, symptoms are displayed as a result, which presents a great opportunity for drug companies to create new drugs to treat conditions caused by a bad diet.
