Americans consume 60% of all the drugs manufactured worldwide.

Today, the so called diseases that are being treated by prescription drugs are, I believe, not diseases but disorders.  Most of our so called diseases were found to be caused by a vitamin or mineral deficiency or lack of an accessory food factor.  450 years ago, Jacques Cartier, a French explorer, was exploring the Canadian country, and because of an early winter was trapped in the St. Lawrence Seaway not able to return to France.  He and his 125 crew members had nothing more than dried salted meat and biscuits.  Eventually the men began dying for an unknown reason.  Their joints were swollen, they ached with pain, their flesh turned black, and their teeth were falling out.  Trying to understand why his men were dying, they opened a corpse and found that the heart had increased substantially in size and turned white.  It was a horrible way to die and they had no answer to the deaths of his men.  It might seem similar to many of our cancer deaths for which we have no solution.  However, in the case of Captain Cartier, a friendly Indian taught the captain to make a tea out of pine needles and pine bark and give it as a tea to his men as well as to use it as a poultice on the various parts of the dying body including the joints.  In as little as two weeks, many of his men had recovered and were able to work again.  This was the first discovery of vitamin C and bioflavonoids.  I believe that most of our diseases (disorders) today are the result of a deficiency of nutrients.  Experts believe that even though we spend $20 billion a year on cancer research, one third of our cancer is caused by smoking or tobacco products, one third of our cancer is caused by the environment (chemicals and pollution), and one third of our cancer is caused by an unhealthy diet.  So 100% of our cancer is caused by what you and I and our government could or should control.  Many of our disorders; high cholesterol, ulcers, gerd, arthritis, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer are, I believe, treatable by lifestyle changes, better choices and a healthy diet that eliminates vegetable fats, refined carbohydrates, sugar and soft drinks.  Maintaining a low carbohydrate diet by eliminating foods that are high on the Glycemic Index will control many of our disorders including obesity, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, gerd, digestive disorders, and heartburn.  Generally the drugs on the market, both OTC and prescriptions, are the result of Americans choosing a poor quality diet.  America represents 5% of the world’s population and yet we as Americans consume 60% of all the drugs manufactured worldwide.  We as Americans consume 80% of all the pain relieving drugs manufactured worldwide.  Out of 37 industrialized nations, America is 37th.  Our infant mortality rate is two or three times greater than Japan.  We are a sick, dying nation.  America is in a world of hurt.  It has been estimated that every American has three chronic diseases and on average is taking six prescription drugs.
