Coenzyme Q10 Levels in Patients with Fibromyalgia

In a study involving 10 patients with fibromyalgia, levels of coenzyme Q10 in salivary cells and mononuclear blood cells were reduced. Supplementation with 300 mg/d coenzyme Q10 was found to be associated with and improvement in clinical symptoms and a restoration of normal coenzyme Q10 levels. The authors conclude, "Patients with FM showed an important dysfunction in CoQ10 levels and might benefit from oral supplementation."
