Q. Dear Terry, “I’ve been experiencing some digestive issues, mainly an inability to digest fats properly. I love healthy fats, especially olive oil, but currently have to limit my intake. I’m going to see a naturopathic doctor next month, is there anything I can try now?” — L.R., Greensboro, NC
Q. Dear Terry, “My senior dog is experiencing some urinary dribbling. My veterinarian is comfortable with trying some natural options before prescription medications. Any recommendations?”— Sheela B., Chesapeake, VA

Drugs are used to treat one intended indication because they are one single molecule. Herbs and spices have hundreds of molecules that literally can treat many different conditions. Some herbs have been researched to treat several different indications which sometime seems too good to be true. Due to where the herb is grown, the geographical area, the water, soil, climate, and a variety of other factors, it can change the molecular composition of the herb. Herbs, fruits, and berries, for example, that are grown in the Scandinavian countries, are more hardy than the same herbs, fruits and berries grown in the Mediterranean. The harsh, cold winters of the Arctic Circle instill into the herbs, fruits, and berries a composition of nutrients to withstand the harsh elements.
A very good example of this is echinacea. If you ask most health oriented individuals why they are taking echinacea, they would respond that they are reducing the severity of a cold or flu, and they may be taking several hundred milligrams of echinacea. But a different form of echinacea has been discovered by neuroscientists at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences that found a new use for echinacea other than to treat a cold or flu, but to treat anxiety or stress with just 20 or 40 mg once or twice a day. This form of echinacea will not be effective to treat a cold or flu nor will the echinacea products on the market that are used to treat a cold or flu reduce anxiety or stress. These are the wonders of nature and the variety of benefits that can be derived from natural medicines.
TODAY'S WORD From Joel and Victoria
God is For You
There are many misconceptions about God in the world today. Some people think He’s mad at them, and other’s think He’s keeping a list of all their wrongs. But that isn’t what Scripture tells us. Scripture tells us that God is gracious, patient and loving; that He is forgiving and doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve. Scripture tells us that God is for us, and if God is for us, who can be against us?
Think about that for a moment. The same God who created the heavens and earth, the one who spoke the universe into existence and knows everything about you, He is on your side and wants the best for you. Today’s verse is a great reminder that when God is for you, no one can win against you. Not the pain of your past. Not any mistake you’ve made. Not the forces of hell, your worst enemy, a bad economy, a difficult housing market or anything else on this earth.
Today, instead of dwelling on what you’re not, dwell on what He is—He is faithful, He is loving, He is with you, and He is for you! And with God on your side, you are headed for victory all the days of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, You are good! Thank You for choosing me and equipping me with everything I need in this life. Thank You for being my Defender, my Hope and my Victory. I bless You and glorify You in all that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
