What is your recommendation to improve cellulite or stop it from occurring?

Q. Dear Terry, “What is your recommendation to improve cellulite or stop it from occurring? I am not overweight and eat relatively healthy. I am an active person but have had cellulite ever since puberty, what else should I be doing?” — Sasha W., Houston, TX

A. Dear Sasha, This is one of the most difficult conditions to treat. I don’t think there is anything on the market that can reduce cellulite. There are hundreds of cosmetics touting the benefits of reducing cellulite, but most of them have been a failure.

I think the best thing that can be done to improve cellulite is to include weight-bearing exercise to strengthen the muscle structure.

I am a huge fan of short burst exercise using kettlebells. I recently did a webinar on the benefits of short burst exercise and kettlebells that you can view on the Terry Talks Nutrition YouTube page. Hopefully you will find some valuable tools in the webinar that you can implement in your daily life.  

I wish I had a more definitive answer for you, but cellulite can occur for a variety of reasons. I have heard some great testimonials on rebounding (jumping on a rebounder or mini-trampoline) improving the appearance of cellulite.

Staying hydrated, rebounding or weight-bearing exercises, sticking to a healthy food regimen, getting plenty of sleep, and reducing toxic exposure, may not completely eliminate cellulite, but they can help improve the skin’s appearance.
