Q. Dear Terry, “What do you suggest to help with the pain from spinal stenosis?”– D.J., Delray Beach, FL
A. Dear D.J., When it comes to pain and inflammation, I think curcumin and boswellia are excellent additions to your daily regimen. These two ingredients each target inflammation from a different perspective. Together, they can decrease the over-production of joint damaging molecules created by the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) pathways. With time, curcumin and boswellia can even help to heal the underlying joint structure.
To get you comfortable as quickly as possible, I recommend a combination of curcumin and boswellia, plus DLPA, and nattokinase. The amino acid, DLPA, helps to keep the body’s own natural painkillers active for longer periods of time. Nattokinase is an enzyme that helps with the body’s microcirculation, which is important for joints because they are nourished by some of the smallest blood vessels in our body.
I prefer curcumin blended with turmeric essential oil, boswellia standardized for AKBA (acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid) content, and low beta-boswellic acid content, DLPA, and nattokinase.
I would take these ingredients one to three times per day, or as needed.
Terry . . . Naturally
