The vet thinks our golden retriever has an autoimmune disease that is attacking her eyes.

Q. Dear Terry, “The vet thinks our golden retriever has an autoimmune disease that is attacking her eyes. Is there anything we can give her that may help?” — Debra, Brooklyn Park, MN

A. Dear Debra, I am so sorry to hear your dog is having health issues. My own dogs, Buddy and Bella, are such a big part of my life. I do have a suggestion, but recommend you consult with your pet’s vet regarding use.

Your dog would benefit greatly by adding a strong, absorbable curcumin to her daily regimen. Curcumin, a compound found in the spice turmeric, is a potent antioxidant and powerful anti-inflammatory that works via multiple pathways. I recommend giving your dog 375 mg of high absorption curcumin 1-2 times daily. Keep in mind that standard curcumin is very poorly absorbed, so make sure the product you choose features a curcumin with excellent absorption that has been proven in published studies. The best form I have ever found uses curcumin blended with turmeric essential oils in a patented process. This curcumin has been shown in published studies to be up to 10 times better absorbed than standard curcumin.

Healthy Regards!
