Please tell me how to get rid of stretch marks and sagging skin?
Q. Hello! “Please tell me how to get rid of stretch marks and sagging skin?” — Melanie P., Missouri City, TX
A. Dear Melanie, Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for stretch marks and sagging skin. However, I think diet and exercise can have a tremendous impact.
I think one of the best ways to reduce the visibility of stretch marks and sagging skin is to build muscle. I would start with an exercise program using kettle bells. If you are unfamiliar with kettle bells, you can watch my video on the kettle bell swing. There are plenty of other great kettle bell videos and demos on the internet as well. Short-burst exercises, like kettle bells, help strengthen the muscles, and can be done fairly quickly with lasting benefits. I also did a webinar on the benefits of short-burst exercise that is available on the Terry Talks Nutrition YouTube page. Hopefully you will find some valuable tools in the webinar that you can implement in your daily life.
If you are just getting back into an exercise routine and become sore, I would add a combination of curcumin, boswellia, DLPA, bromelain, and pancreatin. These ingredients help to relieve pain safely and effectively, while also reducing the inflammation that occurs from exercising. I would take 1100 mg of this combination one to three times daily, or as needed. These ingredients are best taken on an empty stomach so the enzymes can have systemic benefits, rather than digesting food.
As far as diet goes, I would start removing dairy products (with the exception of cream, butter, and eggs), sugar, soft drinks, and all grains from your diet. Your diet should consist of animal proteins from beef, bison, lamb, poultry, and fish, with non-starchy vegetables and fruits. You can also eat nuts, seeds, and berries. While I understand this takes a huge effort on your part, it can make a real difference. For more information, you can review my diet here or watch my webinar.
