My husband has phases where his sense of taste is "off".

Q. Dear Terry, “My husband is 62 years old and in great shape.  However, he has phases where his sense of taste is "off," and sometimes his sense of smell as well.  Is there something he can take to help with this?” — Mary S., Roanoke, VA

A. Dear Mary, First, I recommend that your husband check with his healthcare practitioner to make sure there are no underlying diseases or structural problems that may be causing these issues.

If there are no underlying issues, he may want to consider taking zinc. I would suggest taking 50 mg of zinc glycinate daily for 30 to 60 days and then approximately 10-20 mg daily thereafter.

Healthy Regards!
