My brother recently ruptured his Achilles tendon and is still in a boot.
Q. Dear Terry, “My brother recently ruptured his Achilles tendon and is still in a boot. He is only 50 and has a very active lifestyle (the injury occurred when he was playing basketball). What supplements can you suggest to help him fully recover? Thank you, as always, for your advice.” — M.S., Roanoke, VA
Dear M.S., To further assist in the healing/repairing of the tendon, I recommend a multi-ingredient combination. It should include the active forms of vitamins B6 and B12, along with magnesium, manganese, bromelain, zinc, vitamin C, niacinamide, and boswellia. One of the most crucial ingredients is manganese. You need at least 36 mg of manganese to have an impact, so make sure the dosing of this critical mineral is adequate. I recommend taking these ingredients three times daily.
I believe your brother would also benefit greatly by adding a strong, absorbable curcumin to his daily regimen. I recommend taking 750 mg of high absorption curcumin twice daily. Keep in mind that standard curcumin is very poorly absorbed, so he needs to make sure the product he chooses features a curcumin with excellent absorption that has been proven in published human studies. The best form I have ever found uses curcumin blended with turmeric essential oils. This curcumin has been shown in published human studies to be better absorbed than standard curcumin.
