A. Dear Jeff, I believe your son-in-law would benefit greatly by adding a strong, absorbable curcumin to his daily regimen. I recommend taking 750 mg of high absorption curcumin cutwice daily. Keep in mind that standard curcumin is very poorly absorbed, so he needs to make sure the product he chooses features a curcumin with excellent absorption that has been proven in published human studies. The best form I have ever found uses curcumin blended with turmeric essential oils. This curcumin has been shown in published human studies to be better absorbed than standard curcumin.
In addition to the curcumin, your son-in-law may also want to consider taking grape seed extract. Grape seed has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I would recommend taking 400 mg of grape seed extract twice daily. When looking for a grape seed extract, it is important to choose one that is standardized to contain only OPCs that are small enough to be absorbed, so you’ll get the maximum benefits. Many extracts contain tannins, which are too large to be effectively absorbed and don’t contribute to your health the same way that OPCs do. However, these tannins are counted as OPCs and enhance the label claim, even though they cannot be absorbed! Tannin-free is best.
I also believe that everyone should include a multivitamin and mineral formula in their daily regimens. However, choosing the right daily multivitamin and mineral formula can be a real challenge. The very best premium daily multivitamin and mineral formulas are taken more than once a day. Keep in mind that one tablet or capsule could not possibly fit the optimal amounts of vitamins, minerals, and herbs needed to provide significant nutritional support. In addition, many nutrients are only active in the body for a short period of time and need to be replenished every 6 to 8 hours. Multiple daily doses ensure that your body is receiving optimal nutrient levels throughout the day.
