I love to ride my bike. However, I have been experiencing some pain in my knees.

Q. Dear Terry, “I love to ride my bike – right now I am up 12 miles a day. However, I have been experiencing some pain in my knees. Is there anything else I can take to get rid of the pain?” — Nancy P., San Francisco, CA

A. Dear Nancy, I do have some options that I believe will make a significant difference. However, I would first encourage you to consult with a healthcare practitioner that specializes in sport medicine and/or a certified fitness professional who can determine if you are using the correct body mechanics when biking.

If it’s determined that you are doing everything correctly, I would then recommend these four ingredients: highly absorbable curcumin, boswellia, DLPA and nattokinase. Each ingredient works in a slightly different manner to get you comfortable as quickly as possible. I advise taking these four ingredients three times daily.

In addition, I recommend using a different multi-ingredient combination of highly absorbable curcumin and boswellia, along with vitamin D and fructoborate. This quartet of ingredients helps to reduce joint pain and stiffness, as well as rebuild joint structure. I recommend taking this combination three times daily.

Keep in mind that standard curcumin is very poorly absorbed, so make sure the products you choose feature a curcumin with excellent absorption that has been proven in published human studies. The best form I have ever found uses curcumin blended with turmeric essential oils in a patented process. This curcumin has been shown in published human studies to be up to 10 times better absorbed than standard curcumin. It’s also important to find formulas that feature a boswellia extract that has filtered out the majority of beta-boswellic acid, to at least 5% or less. Unlike most boswellic acids, beta-boswellic acid is actually pro-inflammatory. Removing it greatly enhances the potency of the boswellia extract. You also want a boswellia extract that includes at least 10% or more of acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA), the most active component of boswellia.

Healthy Regards!
