I have several painful bone spurs and they are not going away.

Q. Hello Terry, “I have several painful bone spurs and they are not going away. I can’t kneel down to work in my garden, or wear certain shoes. My doctor had me on a few prescriptions for the pain and inflammation but they made me feel awful. Is there anything natural I can try?” — Glenda S., Anchorage, AK

A. Dear Glenda, “I highly encourage you to keep your primary healthcare practitioner in the loop with any dietary supplementation, as they may have additional insight.

When it comes to bone spurs, I recommend specific forms of calcium (calcium phosphate and calcium chloride) and magnesium (magnesium glycerophosphate), along with bioavailable B6, betaine HCl, vitamin C, and ammonium chloride.

These ingredients help keep calcium more fluid to make sure it doesn’t form clumps that later develop into bone spurs. In short, they help ensure calcium stays where it should be, dissolves calcium in places it shouldn’t be, and prevents it from building up there again. I recommend taking approximately 100 mg of calcium (as calcium phosphate and calcium chloride), 25 mg of magnesium (as magnesium glycerophosphate), 100 mg of vitamin C, 20 mg of vitamin B6, 200 mg of ammonium chloride, and 200 mg of betaine HCl with each meal, followed by the same amount at bedtime. Please be patient because it can take time for bone spurs to go away. However, once your bone spurs are resolved, I think taking the amounts above once or twice per day for maintenance is sufficient.

When looking for ingredients, make sure you are taking calcium in the form of calcium phosphate and calcium chloride, as well as magnesium in the form of magnesium glycerophosphate, as these are the forms that help the body clean away those unwanted calcium deposits on bone (aka bone spurs).

To address the pain, I recommend a combination of highly absorbable curcumin, boswellia (high in AKBA content and low in beta-boswellic acid content), DLPA, and nattokinase. Each of these ingredients addresses pain from a slightly different perspective, and together they are incredibly powerful. I would take these ingredients two or three times per day.

Healthy Regards!
