I have been dealing with low blood pressure for the last several years.

Q. Dear Terry, “I have been dealing with low blood pressure for the last several years. I need be careful when I stand up because I can get dizzy. The doctor ran a bunch of tests but wasn’t able to find a reason why I have low blood pressure. Any natural solutions?”– Levi K., Detroit, MI

A. Dear Levi, I recommend keeping your healthcare practitioner in the loop with any supplementation you may be considering, as they may have additional insight.

Blood pressure can be impacted by body position, breathing patterns, stress, physical fitness, medications, diet, and also time of the day. I have found that low blood pressure is frequently caused by adrenal gland dysfunction, which may contribute to a sense of dizziness or light-headedness upon standing.

To function at their optimal level, the adrenals require an array of necessary nutrients. To support and repair the adrenals, natural ingredients such as certain vitamins, botanicals, and other nutrients can be very effective. These ingredients work together to help repair the adrenal glands, as well as support the body’s ability to respond to stress in a healthy manner, which helps restore optimal adrenal function. I would take 200 mg of vitamin C, 10 mg of vitamin B6 (as pyridoxal-5-phosphate), 100 mg of pantothenic acid, 450 mg of freeze-dried adrenal extract, 450 mg of L-tyrosine, 125 mg of licorice root extract, 75 mg of rehmannia extract, 15 mg of pregnenolone, and 10 mg of DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone). I would take these ingredients two times per day.

I also recommend taking two potent, adaptogenic herbs: rhodiola and ashwagandha. Adaptogens work by increasing strength, stamina, and energy without being stimulants. I suggest taking 500 mg of these two herbs three times daily.

Healthy Regards!
