Cleanses are a great idea. The more efficiently your body moves dangerous toxins out of your system, the better. But many people find cleanses difficult to follow. Some cleanses include harsh ingredients that flush out your digestive tract a little too quickly. And urgency doesn’t make a good cleanse, regularity does. In other cases, cleanses can seem fussy and time consuming, requiring too many extra supplements and dietary restrictions. They end up feeling more complicated than helpful.
With that in mind, there is a remarkable combination of Ayurvedic herbs, used in India for thousands of years that, taken daily, can gently clear toxins from your colon, stop dangerous bacteria, irritating inflammation, and cellular damage to your digestive system. And that is what I’m going to discuss in this Terry Talks Nutrition®.
Cleansing Made Simple?
Cleansing is more than just about feeling less bloated, full, or sluggish. It is also about ridding your body of toxins. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and too often, the foods we eat.
Unfortunately, many cleanses don’t seem practical or desirable. They are often extremely complicated, with multi-part supplements that challenge even the most dedicated regimen. One aspect of cleansing – and one I can understand (to a degree) is the restricted diet. When we control our diets, we are halfway to better health right off the bat. However, it’s understandable you may want a cleanse that allows you to make changes to your diet as you go, eliminates toxins, and yet is easy to follow.
Eliminate Toxins with Ayurvedic Formula
Ayurvedic medicine – the traditional practice in India – is thousands of years old. As a holistic system, Ayurvedic practice means looking at the whole person – not just a specific problem.
With that approach, one of the first orders of the day is to assess the environmental factors of a person’s health; their lifestyle, diet, exercise, and outlook. We know instinctively that these categories overlap quite a bit. Ayurvedic practice understands that, too.
Some of its primary goals are to reduce inflammation, strengthen digestion, and ultimately, rid the body of toxins. These are factors often ignored by conventional, Western medicine, which essentially is a “crisis management” style of treatment; great if you have a broken arm, but not so useful for preventing disease.
Centuries Old Cleanse for A Healthy Colon and Liver
The herbal combination I recommend offers the best of both worlds for people who have considered a cleanse, but have been put off of the idea because of intensive dietary or supplemental requirements.
This herbal blend has been used for thousands of years and consists of fourteen herbs. Some will sound familiar – including turmeric, andrographis, ginger, and licorice. Some might not – including boerhavia (Boerhavia diffusa), curry tree (Murraya koenigii), and Indian tinospora (Tinospora cordifolia). But believe me, Ayurvedic practitioners of the past knew these herbs inside and out. And they still do, too. They know how combining the right botanicals in the right amounts will yield something even stronger than the herbs could ever do separately.
Each of these herbs has been individually studied and recommended for centuries. Each of them is incredibly powerful on their own, and provide compounds that fight inflammation, stop stomach and digestive disorders, soothe and relax intestinal tissues, bolster the ability of the liver to detoxify, and much more. And bear in mind, that these herbs have many roles in Ayurvedic medicine – far beyond what I’ve listed here. I’ve just focused on those functions most closely related to cleansing.
A Daily Herbal Cleanse to Restore Regularity and More
If complicated cleanses have been holding you back from essentially starting over with a healthier frame of body and mind, the herbal combination I recommend is simple.
Ideally you will use these cleansing herbs in conjunction with dietary changes that will limit processed and sugary foods, keep your caffeine and alcohol intake at a sensible level, and – in general – help you slow down a bit to reconnect and feel more in control of your life and less overwhelmed. But these are not requirements – just possibilities.
These Ayurvedic herbs will stop bloating, help you stay regular, flush out toxins, protect your liver, reduce intestinal inflammation, and do all of these things without requiring a special diet or an entire shelf of ingredients. Best yet, you can choose the length of your cleanse – the herbs are gentle enough to use every day, or just for a 30-day period to get things back in order again. You can use them in conjunction with a weight loss regimen, or for extra support when you are recovering from an illness. They are incredibly helpful for many reasons. These botanicals have thousands of years of use and expertise behind them, and remain popular in India for millions of people. If you need a cleanse that is both effective and gentle enough to be used every day, this combination of herbal ingredients is simply the best option available, and one that I strongly recommend.
If you are looking to effectively and gently rid the body of toxins and tone the digestive system, I recommend taking 800 mg daily of the following combination of herbal ingredients before bedtime. Make sure to take with a full glass of water.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) Rhizome; Greater Galangal (Alpinia galanga) Rhizome; Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) Stem and Leaf; Boerhavia (Boerhavia diffusa) Leaf; Indian Laburnum (Cassia fistula) Bark; Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) Leaf; Cyperus (Cyperus rotundus) Rhizome; Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) Rhizome; East Indian Sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus) Rhizome; Long Pepper (Piper longum) Fruit; Chebulic Myrobalan (Terminalia chebula) Fruit; Indian Tinospora (Tinospora cordifolia) Stem; Ginger (Zingiber officinale) Rhizome; Curry Tree (Murraya koenigii) Leaf
