Iron has gotten a bad rap.

Iron is responsible for blood oxygenation.  Iron improves the level of oxygen in the blood.  Oxygen provides stamina and endurance.  A recent study indicated that 90% of women experiencing chronic fatigue have an iron deficiency.  Iron was recommended routinely for women during pregnancy, for menstruating women, and for athletes since excessive sports lowers the level of iron and causes tiredness and fatigue.  Iron was a commonly prescribed mineral, but due to a very poorly flawed study that indicated iron could cause heart disease, iron has been taken out of most supplements and it’s common for shoppers to look for iron free multi vitamin and mineral supplements.  It has been estimated that 50% of women in pregnancy are deficient in iron.  One out of every five menstruating women is deficient in iron.  The majority of pro athletes are deficient in iron.  Lance Armstrong took a shortcut to increase endurance and stamina by using injectable EPO and blood transfusions.  Both are to renew iron levels and new red blood cells.  Using a combination of iron, magnesium, folate and B12 is a natural way to increase endurance and stamina.
