Physicians rely on blood chemistry to determine the metabolic function of the body. While I agree it’s probably the only diagnostic tool that doctors have and one that provides numbers to forecast some kind of answer, however, blood chemistry is very inaccurate as to how the body will utilize components measured in the blood stream. It’s like trying to determine how the engine of your car will run by looking in the gas tank. A few drops of blood, or in some cases a vial, may give you some indication as to what is circulating via the blood stream. Blood chemistry doesn’t indicate how the body or the cellular function will utilize the components. This is particularly true for so many people that struggle with hypothyroidism, while doctors continue to rely on blood chemistry for measuring TSH, T4 and T3 which is a very poor indicator in terms of diagnosing hypothyroidism. Based on the research of Dr. Broda Barnes who researched thyroid function for his entire medical career of 60 years, Dr. Barnes developed Armour Thyroid and always maintained that blood chemistry was always inaccurate to determine thyroid function. He discovered body temperature was far more important to determine whether or not the thyroid was underactive.
