In a study involving 18 patients with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, treatment with acupuncture (6 weekly sessions) was found to significantly improve symptoms in 82% of patients. Furthermore, in addition to a reduction in symptoms, some patients reported reduced use of analgesic medications and improved sleeping patterns. The most common acupuncture points used included: SP-6, ST-36, and LR-3. The authors conclude that their results, “…suggest that acupuncture could be an option for these patients and controlled trials using validated patient-reported outcome measures are justified.”
