IODINE: The Forgotten Medicine

June 8, 2012

Before the introduction of the synthetic drugs that are used today, iodine was one of the most beneficial and universal medicines used by physicians around the world. Iodine was effective for everything: to heal wounds and disease, destroy bacteria, viruses, and pathogens, and to prevent cancer. Once one of the most commonly used medicines in the world, iodine was “forgotten” in favor of new pharmaceutical drugs. Now we are seeing the consequences of forgetting this essential mineral—skyrocketing rates of cancer, an epidemic of thyroid dysfunction, and great difficulties with detoxification. Fortunately, not everyone has forgotten what this amazing mineral can do, and integrative medical practitioners are ushering in an era where iodine is making a comeback. It is a highly effective treatment with virtually no side effects – unlike modern drugs. I absolutely believe there are cases and times in which drugs are extremely important, and in fact, life saving. However, these drugs also come with long lists of side effects that often require other drugs to treat the problems they created in the first place! Today, drugs are used for every condition – even vitamin and mineral deficiencies. We are not deficient in drugs. We are deficient in vitamins and minerals, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Terry's Pick of the Week

Ladies, Are You Losing Your Hair and Are You Tired of Being Tired?

Most women who observe these symptoms may be experiencing an inactive or underactive thyroid.  Today Americans are generally deficient in iodine.  We do not have a consistent source of iodine in our diet.  Our soil is depleted of iodine.  The thyroid controls our metabolic function more than any other gland except the adrenal glands.  The thyroid is like the thermostat in our home.  It regulates the temperature and our well-being in terms of temperature.  Women who are losing their hair and have a lack of energy will find, within a few weeks of supplementing their diet with iodine, a new sense of well-being, increased energy levels and a reduction of hair loss.  A lack of iodine can cause over 30 different symptoms that we live with on a daily basis.  They are not life threatening but they cause a lack of quality of life.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Flourishing Finish

God desires to see you flourish in this life. He wants to see you come out of setbacks stronger, wiser, increased and promoted. He wants to give you hope in your final outcome and see you come to a flourishing finish.

When my father died unexpectedly, all in our family was not well. We didn’t know how everything was going to turn out. We didn’t have all the answers, but we understood the principle that God never ends on a negative. Instead of getting stuck on that page, we just kept moving forward little by little, doing our best, being faithful, being good to people. When I look out today, I can see the faithfulness of God. I can say like David, “Look what the Lord has done!”

Remember, when you encounter adversity, know that God isn’t finished yet. He never ends on a negative. He has more in store for you if you will keep pressing forward. Don’t let your thoughts get stuck on the circumstances. Instead, lift up your eyes to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. Trust that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf, and He will lead you into a flourishing finish!

A Prayer for Today

Father, today I humbly come to You ready to receive Your favor, grace and mercy. I cast my cares on You. I cast my questions on You. I put my hope in You knowing that You will bring me to a flourishing finish in Jesus’ name! Amen.
