Hope for Breast Cancer

June 1, 2012

Breast cancer is terrifyingly widespread in America. Over 230,000 women dealt with the disease in 2011 alone. It is second only to lung cancer for its mortality in the United States.

Because of this, there can be a sense of inevitability about breast cancer. It is not surprising, considering that for many women – up to 80% — the disease has no precedent in the family. Instead, it appears to strike due to genetic factors that are shaped by the environment, aging, and/or stress, rather than heredity.

First, take a look at your diet. Whenever possible, eat organic foods. Eating foods the way nature intended them, and not combined with synthetic lab-created substances, is your best bet.  Also, it’s important to get active. Find something that you love to do and try to do it every day. Get your heart pounding and your blood moving! Humans are not designed to sit still all day at work, then go home and sit still all evening, and then just go to bed and start the whole routine over again. We were meant to be active!

Aside from lifestyle changes, there are proven natural supplements that may be some of the strongest weapons ever for fighting breast cancer. And they are the subject of this Terry Talks Nutrition®.

Herbal Supplement Found To Be As Effective As a Drug In Relieving Rheumatoid Arthritis

Recently, a study comparing 500 mg of a highly absorbable form of curcumin to the drug Voltarin found that they are equally effective in relieving rheumatoid arthritis.  To me, this makes curcumin the winner. While the two clinically tested substances, curcumin and Voltarin, were both effective,  there were no side effects due to the intake of curcumin.  There were no dropouts in the group given curcumin while there were side effects and drop outs in the group given Voltarin.  Not only was curcumin effective in relieving rheumatoid arthritis but other studies at other institutions found that the same curcumin was effective in a number of studies involving obesity, osteoarthritis, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.  I make certain that I take curcumin every day, 500 mg twice daily.  Some days I may even double that dosage.  It’s my number one favorite herb.  There have been over 5,000 studies done on curcumin in the last several years.  They found so many benefits  in how curcumin affects pathways in the body that they are now doing studies on Alzheimer’s disease, colon cancer and mouth and throat cancer.  From all the scientists I’ve talked to, they are pretty certain that the outcome of these new studies will be successful and positive.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

He’s Working In You

Sometimes when God is doing a work in our lives, it can begin to feel a little uncomfortable. We may encounter people who are hard to get along with or have circumstances that seem beyond our control. When this happens, instead of complaining, getting sour or trying to change everything around you, why don’t you look deep inside and say, “Lord, thank You for doing a work in me.” See, I’ve learned that God is more interested in changing me than He is in changing my circumstances. If I choose to stay sour because I’m not getting my way or discouraged because things aren't happening on my time table, that's going to keep me right where I am.

If you want to see change, if you want to see God open up new doors, the key is to bloom right where you’re planted. You can’t wait until everything gets better before you decide to have a good attitude. You have to be the best that you can be right where you are. When you bloom where you’re planted, you’re allowing God to work in you, and He will be faithful to complete what He’s started in you!

A Prayer for Today

Father God, thank You for doing a work in me. I choose to align myself with Your plan by blooming where I’m planted. Help me, by Your Spirit, to be an example of Your love and life everywhere I go in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Motivational Thought for the Day

"The champion wins first, then walks into the arena. Everybody else walks into the arena and then tries to figure out what to do."

— Jim Fannin: Nightingale-Conant author

Today's Scripture:

“...he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”

(Philippians 1:6, NIV)
