It’s no secret that there’s an epidemic of Type 2 Diabetes in America. Believe it or not, diabetes is a disease of starvation. Insulin is a hormone with a special job: it picks up food (sugar) and delivers it to the inside of the cell so it can be burned for fuel.  When there is less insulin, or its activity is impaired, the sugar stays in the blood and the cells starve. A comparison would be to a truck laden with food driving in circles around town because it cannot exit and deliver the food to the hungry townspeople. This causes tremendous stress in our cells, and the excessive sugar in the blood stream causes inflammation and other types of damage. Diabetes can accelerate aging, cause blindness, increase heart disease and stroke risk, interfere with thinking, and delay wound healing. But there is good news—this is a highly treatable problem! Lifestyle changes to fight diabetes are a must and adding the right nutritional ingredients to your daily regimen can make a huge difference with this insidious disease.

Terry's Pick of the Week

Do Your Hands Go to Sleep and Tingle?  Do Your Feet Burn?

Many people who experience tingling and numbing of fingers and toes and burning feet, may have a nerve disorder commonly called neuropathy.  Especially hard hit are diabetics.  It seems to be involved with a disorder of glucose (sugar) metabolism and increased insulin production.  That’s why diabetics, type 1 and type II, have more nerve disorders referred to as diabetic neuropathy.  The best way to support the nerves is through special B vitamins with boswellia, an anti-inflammatory herb, and lipoic-acid, a water and fat soluble antioxidant so it works intracellular as well as outside of the cell.  This combination would be excellent to support any type of foot or nerve disorder.

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Living the Full Life

God wants you to live an abundant and satisfied life! He wants you to enjoy the fullness of the earth and experience His goodness everywhere you go.

It’s easy for people to get stuck in a rut, doing the same thing the same way all the time. But when you open yourself to new people, new experiences and new ideas, you are making room for God to reveal Himself to you and work in different ways in your life. When you stretch yourself, you increase your abilities, and you increase your influence in the world around you.

This week, make the decision to explore something new. Take a different route home from work. Try something new on the menu at lunch. Be open to new people who may not necessarily look like you or act like you. Let God direct and broaden your horizons. Look for new opportunities to grow and stretch so you can live the full, satisfied life the Lord has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I open my heart and mind to You today. I ask that You help me broaden my perspective. Give me courage to step out of my comfort zone so I can experience the full life You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
