Successful Weight Loss: Protocol
Key Words
diet, exercise, carbohydrate control, fat control, white kidney bean extract, lesser galangal, apple, weight loss, obesity
Book stores, the Internet, late night infomercials. What do they have in common? They are all full of miracle diets and weight loss plans promising to make you skinny and healthy without any work on your part.
I’m sure you have heard the saying “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”? This is absolutely the truth about “diets.” There is no way around it. To achieve meaningful, lasting weight loss you have to commit to making healthier choices for your lifetime. Fad diets might help you shed a few pounds, but you will only gain them back, plus more, later. While making long-term lifestyle changes leading to permanent weight loss can be hard work, it is not impossible. I’ve done it. So can you.
My Plan To aid you in getting started on losing those excess pounds I have developed menu suggestions and a simple workout routine. For reasonable weight loss, I recommend that most people consume 1,600 to 1,800 calories a day from a good quality, lean protein, and fresh fruits and vegetables, and minimize carbohydrate intake, especially refined white flour and white sugar. Don’t forget to include a moderate amount of healthy fat, like olive oil or oil-rich fish. For weight loss and aerobic conditioning, I highly recommend the use of kettlebells and interval training. The details for my diet and exercise program are on my website at www.terrytalksnutrition.com. Look for Terry’s Menu for Health and Longevity and Terry’s Exercise Plan. Click to Continue...

Just Ask Terry . . .
Q. Dear Terry, “I have a very busy law practice and I also teach a law class at a local business college. Because of my busy activities, I am so stressed that I constantly worry and experience chronic fatigue. My doctor suggested an antidepressant, but I’m really not depressed. I’m just burned out. I would prefer using something natural. Can you advise any recommendations?” Tim O., Austin TX
A. Dear Tim, “I think from your busy lifestyle that you may be depleting your adrenal reserves, and you may have even reached the point where you are experiencing adrenal insufficiency. Lack of optimal adrenal function can cause fatigue and depression. There is some really good research on rhodiola that will benefit people with chronic fatigue and depression. Rhodiola is known as an adaptogen, which helps the body adapt to various conditions. It truly builds the resistance of the body from within. The ideal formula for this condition would be rhodiola, ashwagandha, schisandra and eleuthero, which are the top four adaptogens in the plant world. I would suggest looking for a combination of these four herbs totaling about 750 mg. Start your morning off with one or two capsules, and if you need one later in the afternoon, that’s fine. These herbs are more optimally effective when taken on an empty stomach. I would also think that your busy lifestyle may cause you to experience a great deal of anxiety. Excessive anxiety can be significantly reduced or entirely eliminated. I would highly recommend a product that’s available in the health food stores containing a unique, low dose echinacea selected for its anti-anxiety properties. Using echinacea products designed for the immune system will not work for anxiety. This unusual extract of echinacea has been clinically studied by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. I have seen some remarkable benefits, freeing people of anxiety when they travel or are required to give a presentation or public speaking. I think these two products would work exceptionally well for you.”

Boosting Vitamin D Can Do a Heart Good

Terry's healthy comment of the week:
When you buy a new computer or some other electronics, be sure to hold your breath when opening the box for the first time. Why? Because the air inside the box is full of VOCs (toxic chemicals) that have off-gassed from the styrofoam, plastics and other packing materials. If you inhale while opening the box, you'll inject some of those chemicals right into your bloodstream (via your lungs).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria:
Your Appointed Time
God has an appointed time to fulfill the visions, dreams, and desires in your heart. Just because it has taken a long time or because you've tried and failed doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Don't give up on those dreams! Don't be complacent about pursuing what God has placed in your heart. Our God is a faithful God. No matter how long it's been, no matter how impossible things look, if you'll stay in faith, your set time is coming.
Remember, every dream that's in your heart, every promise that has taken root, God put it there. Not only that, but He has every intention of bringing it to pass. Hold on to that vision today. Declare by faith, "My time is coming. God is working behind the scenes on my behalf. I will fulfill my destiny!" As you continue to hold on to that vision and speak life over your dreams, it won't be long before you see them begin to take shape. You'll see your faith grow, you'll see your hope strengthen, and you'll see yourself step into the destiny God has prepared for you!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I receive Your Word which is life and health to me today. I ask that You ignite my heart with Your holy fire so that I can pursue Your perfect plan for my life. Make my thoughts and words agreeable to Your will. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Motivational Thought for the Day
"And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
— Abraham Lincoln: 16th president of the United States
Today's Scripture:
"For the vision is yet for an appointed time…though it tarries, wait for it" (Habakkuk 2:3, KJV).
