Just Ask Terry . . .
Q. Hi Terry. “I've been suffering from acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) for many years. I take omeprazole, 20mg to help relieve the symptoms of the coughing and throat clearing. I periodically go on a detox diet for 20 to 30 days just to get off of the med, however after two or three weeks the coughing begins. I've tried DGL as well as Mastic Gum 500 but it doesn't seem to work. My doctor, as usual, said I just have to face the fact that I will have to be on omeprazole for the rest of my life....any advice on what to do? Thanks.” Tom A, San Rafael, CA
A. Dear Tom: I totally disagree that you will have to be on acid blockers the rest of your life because I have personally witnessed many people like yourself who have had superior results with a natural approach. I encourage you to talk with your doctor and see what he/she thinks of using the following protocol to get your problem under control. I am sure you will be extremely happy with the results. First of all, the drugs you are on completely block your hydrochloric acid and greatly reduce the activity of certain digestive enzymes that are required to break down all minerals and protein. Over time, you will increasingly have problems absorbing protein and minerals. To improve your digestion naturally, use the following combination in softgel capsules; 450 mg of d-Limonene and deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) root extract. Also add to your daily intake, Betaine HCL, 10 grains per capsule. Any good brand is fine. Take 1 capsule at each meal to start, and if feeling better but not 100%, try 2 capsules each meal thereafter. If at any time you feel warmth in your stomach after taking your capsules, reduce your dosage at the next meal. Experiment a bit and you will find a dosage somewhere between 1-3 capsules per meal will work for most. These types of formulas are available in all good health food stores. This problem actually occurs because you do not have enough healthy digestive acids in your stomach. This protocol will correct that. Let me know how you’re doing!

Terry's healthy comment of the week:
Did you know that having a pet has been proven to increase your health and happiness? It also helps us exercise more because we embrace a new pattern of walking the dog, for example. Improve your health: Adopt a pet today! (Hopefully from a pet shelter or rescue organization.)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria:
Remind Yourself of His Promises
When things don't go the way you planned or something unexpected happens, do you go around complaining, expecting the worst? Or, do you go to God's Word and remind yourself of His promises?
The Bible says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. You have to have faith in order to activate God's promises. When difficulties come and you're tempted to get upset, remind yourself, "This is not going to prosper against me. They may be talking about me. It may look bad. But I know God is my Vindicator. He'll take care of me. I know God has me in the palm of His hand."
When you remind yourself of His promises, you don't have to get worried. You know God is still on the throne. You know that problem didn't come to stay, it came to pass. So today, remind yourself of His promises and feed your faith so that you can move forward in the victory He has prepared for you!
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, thank You for every one of Your precious promises. I choose to meditate on Your Word today which brings life to my soul. Fill me with Your peace as I stand in faith until I see the victory You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Motivational Thought for the Day
"The biggest mistake that you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else. Job security is gone. The driving force of a career must come from the individual. Remember: Jobs are owned by the company; you own your career!"
—Earl Nightingale
Today's Scripture:
"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful"
(Joshua 1:8, NIV).
