Q. Hi Terry, “I’m a 58 year old male. For about the last 4 months or so I have noticed a slight decrease in performance when I have sex. I am otherwise healthy and not at all interested in going the drug route. Is there anything you could recommend for me to take that would increase that?” —Dale V., Montgomery, AL A. Dear Dale, First and foremost, if you have not already checked with your doctor, please do so. Though not common, there are illnesses in which the first symptoms are changes in sexual performance. Also, there are a wide variety of prescription medications that can cause changes in sexual performance, so your doctor can evaluate if any prescription drugs you may be using have this adverse effect. Should you get a clean bill of health, then there is a supplement I can recommend. It is called maca, and is a root plant from the highlands of the Andes Mountains. It is entirely safe—the people who live in that region consume it like a vegetable. Not only will this enhance sexual performance, it also has an impact on energy, mood and stamina. Make sure to use an organic maca. Capsules often come in 750 mg doses, so I would recommend you use 3 capsules like this twice daily. This may seem like a high dose, but it is not. Maca is not an extract—it is a whole plant, so the dosages need to be higher to get effective levels on board. Healthy regards! Terry . . . Naturally
