Q. Dear Terry, “Why am I always clearing my throat, any ideas? Yes, I also have sinus problems.” —Mary A., Franklin, WI A. Dear Mary, I think you may have answered yourself—sinus drainage actually could be your problem. However, please check with your healthcare practioner because constantly clearing your throat, especially if you have some problems swallowing, can be indicative of a more serious underlying health problem. Should it turn out that it is a problem with sinus drainage, then I do have some suggestions for you. There are some very powerful concentrated essential plant oils that can be tremendously helpful with sinus inflammation and drainage. The first is a blend of eucalyptus and myrtle, both standardized to 1,8 cineole. These oils help clear your sinuses. The next formula I recommend combines the essential oil of thyme blended with climbing ivy extract standardized to hederacoside C. This soothing combination helps clear the sinuses and reduce tissue irritation and inflammation. However, when using concentrated plant oils internally, please MAKE SURE they are formulas designed to be swallowed and that they are approved and tested for human use. Some dietary changes may also be quite helpful. I’d suggest you avoid all grains and foods made from grain. Also, avoid all dairy with exception of butter and eggs. Try this for a few months, and I think you will see a dramatic improvement in your chronic sinus drainage. Healthy regards, Terry… Naturally
